Tell us about yourself
Hi, this is Nikhila Chalamalasetty, an Indian lifestyle and motivation blogger. I’m also a fashion lover so included fashion column on my blog as well recently. I was done with my graduation 3 years back and I embarked on this blogging journey 6 months ago which, by the way, I’m enjoying every minute. Blogging made my life better.
What inspired you to start a blog?
At first, I just started blogging as a stress-reliever, a hobby but eventually, I started enjoying it and decided to make it a full-time gig. Once I’m totally into this, I found inspiration from every blogger who’s trying hard to make their mark.
In your blog, you said, “I’ve always felt that I should do something worthwhile to bring awareness about several issues of life.” Being a motivator, how difficult or easy it is to console people in their bad times?
It’s really difficult to give comfort in bad times. But I have never felt that pressure, I just speak my mind and what I have personally experienced. When one speaks their mind, I’m sure people will definitely relate to it.
Every human being on this planet has to go through a lot during the bad times. In such situations, what is your preferred happiness recipe to keep yourself up?
Patience and positivity. These two are my weapons during bad times. I also break down sometimes but somehow, I had always managed to lift myself up and wait for my time to come.
Most of the times motivators have to deal with situations when people who are suffering from financial crises like someone has lost the job, or business crashed down, often sound rude by saying that motivational speeches are only good to listen but the fact is that money works for money. How would you react if your speeches were criticized in such manner in group discussions?
Actually, they’re right. I partially agree with whoever that says that. But motivation is not something that changes your life at once but it’s necessary to make you go strong towards your goals despite all the struggle. Motivation makes you face the troubles bravely.
You have shared a blog post titled – Top 5 Motivational Persons in the world one should follow. Why do you think people fail to achieve their goals? And how would you inspire failures to cope up with stress and regain their confidence?
I can’t tell any specific cause for failures as there won’t be a single reason. It depends on the circumstances an individual is going through. As to how, again, patience. I strongly believe that patience is the only thing that keeps us going during failures.
There are various topics posted in your blog, from motivation to health and diet, gadgets and apps. What do you find most challenging about blogging any of these topics?
Um, motivation. That stuff needs to be written in a most convincing manner. So, of all the other topics motivational posts are a little tough.
There are posts on your blog those are totally different from each other. Is that your “mood” that inspires you to choose a topic or the need of an audience?
I’d say both. I believe that too much of anything is not good even if it’s motivation. That’s why I choose to have varied topics on my blog so the audience won’t be bored of the same routine stuff. And, I don’t want to bore myself either.
Tell us about some of the people you’ve met while working on your blog?
I always wanted to have friends from different regions and this wish of mine is full filled by my blog Nikki’s talk. Some of my blogger friends are Deepak Kumar, Bhargavi and Hajira, Bridget, Amelia, Satish and many other people who keep me inspiring with their work.
How would (someone) describe your blogging style?
Haha, how can I say that? But considering the comments on my blog, people think it’s impressive, spot on and soothing.
What do you do when you aren’t working on your blog?
Most of the time, I work on my blog but when I don’t I read books, I shop, I talk to my friends, I learn new things (like, I’m learning Spanish currently).
If you could plan the perfect holiday, what would it be?
I love traveling and exploring new places and people. So, obviously, any new destination would be a perfect holiday for me. But, one place that I’d love to visit again and again is Kashmir. It’s so beautiful.
How many books do you read in a month - roughly?
It depends on the time I have. But usually, I finish a book in 3 days, sometimes even 2.
What is your most favorite electronic gadget?
I’m not really a fan of electronic gadgets. So, there’s no favorite.
Favorite book character or film character crush?
Um, I like Joey from the F.R.I.E.N.D.S series. He’s so adorably amazing. But he’s old now. Haha!
What networking do you do that you feel helps your blog?
Mostly Facebook blogger groups. They helped me through many things.
How do you keep coming up with material/content for your blog? Many people struggle with coming up with different articles/posts and they only have one blog.
Basically, I come up with topics from my own experiences and the things I witness happening around me. I also share things I love.
What’s your strategy with your blog in general?
My strategy with my blog is no strategy at all. I just want to learn and experience new things, be happy and contented. That’s all.
Do you think Page rank plays a vital role in a blog’s life? Why?
Yes, absolutely. It gives your blog that extra exposure. Every minute thing in blogging plays its role, right from establishing an FB page to Adsense approval. Everything matters.
What would you prioritize? Content? SEO? Traffic? Readers?
All of them are really important and I’d prioritize them in the order of content, SEO, Readers, and traffic.
What’s the best thing a blogger can give to his readers?
Obviously, good content.
Everyone has a favorite/least favorite post. Name yours and why?
My first 3 to 4 posts are my least favorite posts. As it’s the beginning I had little idea of what is what and how I should present the content. I didn’t do SEO for those posts either. But no worries, I am re-editing them now to optimize.
If you found Aladdin's lamp, what three wishes you would ask Genie?
Right now, I don’t have any wishes. Maybe, I’ll save them for later. HAHA. Oh, wait, maybe I could ask for tons of traffic for my blog. *wink*
Name some of the bloggers whom you look up to and why?
I don’t follow any specific blogs regularly but I read random blogs and learn things I don’t know from them. I look up to every blogger I know.
If someone was interested in blogging, what would be a few things you would suggest?
I still consider myself a newbie (as it’s just been 6 months) and if I had to give suggestions, I’d say be patient and work hard. Remember good content is the king.
After having written various articles on your blog, would you like to share any closing remarks with the audience?
I have always said this and I’m still saying, there’s always good in everything that happens. So don’t lose hope. We can’t help break down sometimes but, to lift ourselves up again is what that matters.
